Actors, breakdancers and musicians bring a lot of culture to one of the largest Protestant churches in Germany: The “Berlin Cathedral Concerts” series of events begins on November 1st with Ben Becker’s “Death Duel”. 16 varied evenings are planned until the end of March, as the organizers announced. The series is intended to create a special encounter between past and present, between tradition and innovation.

Among other things, actress Corinna Harfouch and her colleague Peter Lohmeyer will read from letters by the composer couple Alma and Gustav Mahler on November 29th. The breakdance group Flying Steps will bring the Brothers Grimm fairy tales to life on December 17th. Max Mutzke will sing on March 6th, 2025, accompanied by pianist Marialy Pacheco.

Actress Martina Gedeck (February 27), songwriter Konstantin Wecker (March 26), the German Chamber Orchestra Berlin (March 8) and the Berlin Comedian Harmonists (March 14) are also part of the program.

Ben Becker will be touring Germany with “Death Duel” from November and will celebrate the premiere in the Berlin Cathedral, after which there will be further performances there. The basis is the Christian text “Death’s Duel” by the English poet John Donne from the 17th century.
