Tennis player Eva Lys has reached the semifinals of the WTA tournament in Monastir, Tunisia. The 22-year-old from Hamburg beat Turkey’s Zeynep Sönmez 7:5, 6:3 in the round of the best eight. She can now hope for her first final on the WTA tour.
Lys had already defeated the number one seed Elise Mertens from Belgium in the round of 16 of the hard court event. At the US Open, the world number 126 was recently eliminated in the first round after surviving the qualification.
