Mr. Hamilton, last Wednesday Russia announced the start of its counteroffensive against Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk border region. What have we seen since then?
Ukraine certainly expected this counter-offensive when it crossed the border in early August.
I think they knew that the Russian part of the border was weakly defended and that they would have a window of opportunity to capture as much territory as possible and then dig in while the Russians rallied.
