It’s Alabama’s first road matchup in the Kalen DeBoer era, and it’s a rare one. The Crimson Tide (2-0) make the trip up north to Wisconsin for the first time since 1928. It’s their first regular season game against a Big Ten opponent since defeating Penn State in Happy Valley back in 2011.

The Crimson Tide are coming off a 42-16 victory over South Florida. After a close three quarters, Alabama turned on the afterburners with a 28-point fourth quarter, including three touchdowns in the final six minutes. Alabama has outscored its opponents 49-10 in the second half of the first two games.

The Crimson Tide offensive line committed nine penalties in that matchup, helping keep the offense stagnant for most of the game. The defense was sharp, holding the Bulls to 2-of-18 on third down attempts.

The Crimson Tide are guided by senior quarterback and Heisman hopeful Jalen Milroe, who has compiled nine total touchdowns and 475 yards in two games. Milroe has nabbed two rushing scores in each of Alabama’s first two games this season.

The Alabama running back duo of junior Jam Miller and sophomore Justice Haynes is a presence with both backs touting games of 100 yards or more.

Five-star true freshman Ryan Williams is as advertised with 207 receiving yards in two games. He hauled in touchdown passes of 84 and 55 yards in the season opener against Western Kentucky.

Part of a menacing defense, Alabama junior linebacker Jihaad Campbell has 20 tackles in two games.

Alabama star sophomore left tackle Kadyn Proctor (shoulder) is still up in the air after missing the first two games.

The Crimson Tide still have mega matchups against Georgia, Missouri and Tennessee. This one could be a rare midwestern road win to add to their mantle.

This is also a rare occasion for Wisconsin. It will be the first time since 1971 that the Badgers welcome an SEC opponent to Madison.

Wisconsin is coming off a 27-13 victory over South Dakota. Before that, it was a lackluster showing against Western Michigan. The Badgers (2-0) have been average at best to start the season with a pair of 14-point victories over lower tier competition. Their biggest missing piece is their big-play ability, tallying just five plays of 20 or more yards in their first two games.

Wisconsin is led by Miami transfer Tyler Van Dyke. He is 38-of-63 for 406 yards and one touchdown. He will need to sharpen his accuracy and hunker down with an SEC behemoth coming into town.

Though their signal caller has struggled on the stat sheet, their offense can be boosted by the running back tandem of senior Chez Mellusi and sophomore Cade Yacamelli, who both have over 100 rushing yards in two games. Mellusi also touts three touchdowns.

It’s the kickstart to a brutal slate for second-year head coach Luke Fickell, who is still seeking that signature win. He will have plenty of chances as they play USC, Oregon and Penn State, among others.

DeBoer and Fickell were two coaches guiding smaller programs up the ranks of the college football world. Now, they bring Power five prestige into this marquee matchup for the third all-time meeting. A notoriously raucous Camp Randall Stadium is set to electrify the Week 3 slate.
