Drunk driving, Lake Road
On Sept. 2 officers stopped a driver for a traffic violation. After speaking with the 33-year-old Bay Village resident, officers suspected he was under the influence. The man failed to perform field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was brought back to Bay Village Jail and submitted to an Intoxilyzer breath test, resulting in a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.127%.

Scam, Carlton Drive
On Sept. 5 a resident reported a solicitor in the area. The man reported their neighbor had been
talking to a solicitor and when he approached both of them, the solicitor got upset and words were exchanged. The solicitor confronted the neighbor before walking away. Officers responded to the area and found the solicitor. It then discovered the solicitor had made a sale at a nearby residence for a magazine subscription. Officers found the man had no valid solicitor permit or work ID for this company. Further, officers found, via the Better Business Bureau website, that this was likely a scam. Many customer reviews complained about never receiving their magazines. Officers were able to return the money to the resident and the 44-year-old Illinois resident was issued a citation for solicitor’s permit required.
Suspicious, Cliff Drive
On Sept. 5 a resident reported someone had broken into their home and he could hear someone downstairs. The caller, while on the phone, said there was a car leaving his home. Officers arrived in the area and found the described car and conducted a traffic stop at Clague and Lake roads. After a short investigation, it was discovered the individual who entered the home had a key and was a friend. The homeowner confirmed they knew the individual and were sent on their way.
