FC Bayern Munich has taken the lead in the Bundesliga with a convincing away win against newly promoted Holstein Kiel. The record champions beat Kiel 6-1 (4-0), who were completely overwhelmed, especially in the first half, and are now in first place with three wins from three games.

After the end of their long winning streak, German champions Bayer Leverkusen have come back with a win. The Werkself, who had recently suffered their first defeat in 35 league games, won comfortably 4-1 (2-1) against TSG Hoffenheim on matchday three and now have six points.

VfB with first victory

Vice champions VfB Stuttgart were also successful, celebrating their first victory with a 3-1 (1-1) win over Borussia Mönchengladbach. Munich, Leverkusen and Stuttgart thus managed a dress rehearsal for their upcoming Champions League tasks.

Meanwhile, RB Leipzig missed out on their third win in three games with a 0-0 draw against Union Berlin. Suspended coach Marco Rose had to watch from the stands as Loïs Openda missed a possible win with a missed penalty (74′).

Eintracht Frankfurt secured its second win of the season with a 2-1 (1-0) win over VfL Wolfsburg. The same goes for SC Freiburg, who turned the game around after trailing 0-1 at half-time and won 2-1 (0-1) against winless bottom-placed VfL Bochum.

On Friday evening, Borussia Dortmund beat 1. FC Heidenheim 4:2. BVB is Munich’s closest rival, two points behind.

Top start for Bayern

Bayern got off to a dream start in Kiel thanks to Jamal Musiala’s lightning goal after just 14 seconds. The other goals for the clear favorite were scored by striker Harry Kane (7th, 43rd and 90th+1, penalty), Nicolai Remberg with an own goal (13th) and Michael Olise (65th). Armin Gigovic scored for Holstein (82nd).

In Hoffenheim, Victor Boniface became the match winner for Leverkusen. The Nigerian provided the assist for Martin Terrier’s first goal (17th minute), and scored the second and fourth himself (30th and 75th). National player Florian Wirtz also scored from the penalty spot (72nd). For Hoffenheim, whose goalkeeper Oliver Baumann drew level with football greats Lothar Matthäus and Toni Schumacher with his 464th Bundesliga game, Mergim Berisha was able to shorten the deficit (37th).

In Gladbach, Ermedin Demirovic scored two goals to secure the VfB victory (57th and 61st). After Stuttgart’s first lead through Deniz Undav (21st), who also scored for the national team for the first time on Tuesday, Alassane Plea equalized for Borussia (27th). The game was also marked by the 80th birthday of Borussia legend Günter Netzer, who was not in the stadium.

Trapp injures his thigh

Both Frankfurt goals were scored by Omar Marmoush, who has been outstanding for weeks (30th and 82nd from a handball penalty). Ridle Baku had equalised for the hosts in the meantime (76th). However, Eintracht may have to do without goalkeeper Kevin Trapp for the time being, who had to leave the game at half-time with a thigh injury. This meant that Brazilian goalkeeper Kaua Santos made his Bundesliga debut.

Despite the opening goal by Monaco newcomer Myron Boadu (45th minute), Bochum suffered their third defeat in three games in Freiburg. Junior Adamu managed to turn things around with a brace (58th and 61st minute).
