No exhibition about the myth of Berlin is complete without a chapter on the Love Parade. The techno subculture that emerged from the ruins of the former GDR is, after all, the core of what former mayor Klaus Wowereit once described, rather drunkenly, as “poor but sexy.” The improvised clubs of the years of reunification were the manifestation of the utopia, as concrete as it was short-lived, of transforming the newly won freedom into a post-ideological form of society.
