Thanks to a wild injury time with two penalties and a red card, 1. FC Nuremberg celebrated a late away win in Ulm. The Franconian second division football team coached by Miroslav Klose beat the promoted team 2-1 (0-0) and thus made a little amends after the 0-4 defeat against Magdeburg.
Shortly before the end, with the score at 1:1, events unfolded rapidly in the Donaustadion: First, referee Wolfgang Haslberger awarded a flattering penalty for Nuremberg. The attempt by “Club” striker Lukas Schleimer was saved by goalkeeper Christian Ortag. However, because the celebrated keeper was not on the line when the shot was taken, the penalty was retaken. Taylan Duman chipped the ball into the goal for the winning goal (90.+9).
Shortly afterwards, Stefanos Tzimas was shown the red card for violent conduct (90th + 10th). The Greek substitute had previously made it 1:1 (64th). With their second win of the season, Nuremberg temporarily climbed to eleventh place in the table.
Ulm, on the other hand, were frustrated, having given up a lead through Semir Telalovic (51′) and ultimately losing very unluckily.
