One person died in a fire at a residential building in Eberswalde in the Barnim district, and a child is still missing. Six people were injured, police reported.
According to reports, a residential and commercial building on Friedrich-Ebert-Straße caught fire late on Saturday evening for reasons that are still unknown. Several people were then rescued from the building using a safety net. According to current information, one person died in the fire, but their identity is still unclear.
As the “BZ” previously reported, the flames spread throughout the building and also spread to a neighboring house. The fire has now been extinguished, said a police spokesman. The search for the missing child and the investigation into the cause of the fire are still ongoing.
