JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah became the first Browns player to wear a Guardian Cap during a game on Sunday against the Jaguars.
Five players wore the caps in games across the league in Week 1.
This is the first year the NFL has allowed players to wear the protective shells over the top of their helmets, designed to help prevent concussions.
Owusu-Koramoah took the field for the first time wearing the cap for the Browns’ opening kickoff. The cap was orange with the familiar brown and white strip down the middle.
He did not wear the Guardian Cap in Week 1 when he played all 63 of the Browns’ defensive snaps during teh team’s 33-17 loss to the Cowboys.
