Kizzire ends PGA Tour drought

SAN FRANCISCO, SEPT 16 – Patton Kizzire ended a PGA Tour title drought of more than six years with a stylish win at the Procore Championship, Silverado Resort, yesterday. The 38-year-old scored one eagle and three birdie in the final round with a 70, winning the third trophy of his career and his first since winning at the Sony Open in 2018.

“I feel very happy,” said Kizzire after his victory. “I’ve been working hard and feel like I haven’t reached my full potential all this time. It feels great to be back to my true level.”

Starting with a four-shot lead overnight, Kizzire finished the tournament five shots ahead of David Lipsky, having posted a two-under par total in the final round.

After failing to advance to playoffs Last month’s FedEx Cup and having missed his last two tournaments, Kizzire has now bounced back.

On the par five fifth hole, he recorded eagle after hitting a hole in the edge of the field, but bogey at the ninth and 11th holes gave Lipsky a chance.

However, Kizzire managed to rebuild his position with birdies on the 12th, 13th and 15th holes while Lipsky settled for a one-under par 71 and a final round total of 273.

“David played great,” said Kizzire. “He put pressure on me, but I stayed focused and disciplined myself.

“This victory is very fun and gives satisfaction after a long effort.” – AFP
