Sarawak plans to establish an Islamic technical college

MUKAH, 18 SEPT – The Sarawak government will establish an Islamic technical college to provide opportunities for Muslim children in the state to further their studies in the technical field while also learning the teachings of the Quran, said Sarawak Premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Without giving further details, he said the knowledge of the hereafter and the world should be studied in order to raise the dignity of the Islamic religion so that the Muslim community is respected and emulated by others.

“We carry out da’wah through what is called da’wah bill hal (dawa’ah through example and good morals). We must perform our duties as required by our religion and be an example and further maintain our lives and upgrade our position through good education,” he said.

He said this during the Sarawak State Level Maulidur Rasul Assembly and Parade Year 1446 Hijrah/2024 AD at Setia Raja Square, yesterday.

Abang Johari also thanked all Sarawak Muslims for being with the government in maintaining unity among the multi-racial and religious communities in the state.

The rally and parade was attended by 122 contingents from government departments and agencies, the private sector and non-governmental organizations.

Also present were the Sarawak State President, Tun Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, as well as government leaders who later participated in the parade. – Named
