With a clear majority of 124 votes, the UN General Assembly is demanding that Israel withdraw from occupied Palestinian territories within a year. 43 states – including Germany – abstained from voting on a corresponding resolution in the largest UN body with 193 member states. Israel itself and the United States, along with twelve other countries, voted against the draft resolution, which is not binding under international law. Some states did not vote.
