BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 19 – Brunei Darussalam is experiencing southwest monsoon until this September, expected to receive indirect effects following Tropical Storm Soulik which was detected in the eastern sea area of Vietnam, about 1,600 kilometers from this country.

The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) in a statement today informed that the storm is predicted to move towards the west and is expected to subside, but the weather conditions in the country are predicted to be affected by heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in the next few days.

According to BDMD, wind speeds can reach up to 60 kilometers per hour during heavy rain, while sea conditions are expected to be moderate to rough with waves between 1 and 2 meters high.

Accordingly, the public is advised to take precautions due to the risk of fallen trees, landslides, and flash floods, especially in low-lying areas and near rivers during continuous heavy rains and high tides.

BDMB also advises road users and seafarers to always be aware of the latest weather forecasts and warnings and make appropriate plans for their own safety.

The latest weather information, advice and warnings can be accessed through the Brunei WX application, Weather Line 114, the website www.met.gov.bn, as well as BDMD’s official social media channels which are the Facebook page @bruneiweather, Instagram @brunei.weather and the Brunei Telegram channel Weather.
