The PPM program increases the ability of leaders to deal with disaster risk

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 19 – A total of 44 participants consisting of sub-district heads and village heads attended the third Community Leaders Program (PPM) organized by the National Disaster Management Center (NDMC) at the Theater Hall, Brunei Muara District Department.

The program that took place today and September 21 aims to strengthen the ability of community leaders in disaster risk reduction to build a disaster-resilient society.

Also present as participants in the program was the Head of Subok Village, Yang Berhormat Awang Lawi bin Haji Lamat; The Chief of Putat Village, Honorable Zainol bin Haji Mohamed; and the Head of Lumapas Village B, Honorable Mohamad Ali bin Tanjong; as well as officers and staff from agencies interested in disaster management.

According to the NDMC statement, on the first day of the program, participants attended a Knowledge Exchange Workshop where participants had the opportunity to listen to a briefing on the functions and roles of agencies interested in disaster management consisting of the NDMC, the Brunei and Muara District Department, the Brunei Darussalam Climate Change Office, the Weather Research Department Brunei Darussalam, Fire and Rescue Department, and Community Development Department.

Group activities and presentations are also held as a dynamic platform for learning and knowledge sharing that gives opportunities to program participants to build and develop collaborative relationships among participants and program facilitators.
