SEOUL, SEPT 19 – South Korean police said today that they plan to spend nearly US$7 million over the next three years on technology to combat deepfakevoice cloning and other forms of digital fraud.
In recent weeks, authorities have uncovered a vast network of Telegram chat rooms, often set up in schools and universities, where users share pornography. deepfake produced by artificial intelligence (AI) depicting female students and staff.
The revelations have sparked public outrage, with the president promising to take firm action.
The Seoul National Police Agency said today that it has allocated US$2 million a year until 2027 to develop the technology deep-learning to track digitally produced content such as deepfake and voice cloning.
