SIBU, 20 SEPT – A total of 200,000 new jobs will be created when Malaysia switches to a net zero energy system by 2030, said Sarawak’s Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.

“Most of it will happen in Sarawak because we are the most progressive (in green energy). I urge all Sarawakians to seize this opportunity.

“If you are an expert in this field and a son of Sarawak, it is time to go home and contribute energy towards nation building. We will make changes together by 2030,” he told reporters after officiating Kanowit Waterfront and Kanowit Festival 2024 in Kanowit District about 60 kilometers from here.

Also present was the Minister of National Unity, Datuk Seri Aaron Ago Dagang.

Dr Sim said the Premier of Sarawak, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, took the opportunity of the transition for Sarawak by accelerating the production of hydrogen, ammonia and solar energy.

“Instead of diesel, green ammonia will be the main fuel for shipping. We will put Sarawak at the forefront of all this green energy and I urge our people in Sarawak, especially the youth to venture into this field. – Named
