CLEVELAND, Ohio — “C” in “CLE” stands for Cleveland and ‘Clinched’ playoffs/Central Division Championship which the Cleveland Guardians did Thursday and Saturday. Thursday the Guards clinched a playoff birth with their extra-innings win over the Twins 3-2. Saturday they clinched the Central Division Championship when the Giants beat the Royals.

This year the Guardians playoff birth stands out like their great new ‘CLE’ uniforms. It marks only the second time in history that all three Cleveland major sports teams made the playoffs the same year. The first time was 1995 with the Browns in the playoff game for the 1994 regular season.

Guardians playoff birth/Central Championship is also extra special because it’s Stephen Voght’s first season as manager after taking over for legend Terry Francona who retired. A good omen for the Guardians is that in 1995 the team also made the World Series. Look for a return to finish unfinished business. GO GUARDS !
