The former Prime Minister of Brandenburg, Matthias Platzeck, attributed the SPD’s success in the state elections primarily to the work of Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke. “Dietmar Woidke threw everything he could into it. It is his success,” said Platzeck on ZDF. The SPD managed a “fabulous comeback” in Brandenburg. From his point of view, it is clear that Chancellor Olaf Scholz will lead the SPD again as the top candidate in next year’s federal election. Platzeck was Prime Minister of Brandenburg before Woidke. The current Prime Minister took office in 2013.
