Bundesliga: Rose praises St. Pauli fans: “Didn’t see a middle finger”

Coach Marco Rose of RB Leipzig praised the fans of his opponent FC St. Pauli despite the unfortunate draw with the newly promoted team. “It was very pleasant here,” said the 48-year-old. “I have never experienced a journey to the stadium as an RB where I didn’t see a middle finger,” said Rose about the bus ride to the stadium. “People don’t like us here and they show that subtly. And I think that has a certain class,” said Rose. “I noticed that in a really, really positive way. So hats off to you!”

St. Pauli fans criticize RB

Before the match, however, the Hanseatic fans had criticised the club with a large banner in the stands. Supporters said in the first half: “Whether you’re a fan or an official – RB Leipzig: the enemy of football!”

The promoted team from Hamburg had achieved a 0:0 draw against the Champions League participant and thus earned their first point of the league season. According to Rose, the Kiez club had “honestly earned” the point.
