LAHAD DATU, SEPT 23 – An elderly man died after the cement tanker he was driving lost control and fell into a 10 meter deep ravine at Kilometer 18 of Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan here early this morning.
The head of Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Station, Sumsoa Rashid said Abd Halim Bolong, 72, was seriously injured and was confirmed dead by the medical team.
“The fire department received an emergency call at 2:42 this morning and then 10 members on duty rushed to the scene to carry out rescue operations. The victim was trapped in the cabin and buried in the ground and the victim was successfully removed at 12 noon today,” he said when contacted. Named today.
