Brunei participates in Japan Tourism Expo 2024

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 24 SEPT – Brunei Darussalam will once again participate in the Japan Tourism Expo 2024 which will take place at one of the largest exhibition venues in Japan, Tokyo Big Sight from 26 to 29 September.

The Department of Tourism Development stated that the Japan Tourism Expo, famous for being able to attract about 150,000 visitors in the past edition, will feature exhibits from more than 150 countries and regions this year.

The four-day event includes two days dedicated to business-to-business (B2B) meetings, facilitating professional networking followed by two days open to the public, offering exhibitors the opportunity to interact directly with potential travelers.

The expo is a platform for international tourism boards, tourism companies and hospitality professionals to connect, encourage collaboration between the private and public sectors to foster growth in tourism and promote the regional economy.

In an effort to further increase cooperation and build new cooperation, the Department of Tourism Development with the support of the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Tokyo, will host a seminar for approximately 50 representatives of the Japanese tourism industry including travel agents, universities and media agencies.

The seminar will offer valuable information on marketing Brunei’s unique attractions with the aim of encouraging more Japanese tourists to explore Brunei Darussalam.

Joining the Department of Tourism Development at the Japan Tourism Expo is a delegation consisting of seven local agencies including hotels, travel agents and Brunei’s national airline.

In addition, cultural performers from Brunei will highlight the rich heritage of Brunei by offering visitors a glimpse into the traditions and culture of Brunei Darussalam.

The country’s participation in the expo this time builds on the success of the promotional efforts launched after the Japan Tourism Expo 2023. The initiatives implemented include familiarization visits for Japanese travel agents who specialize in educational tourism, together with representatives from the Japan School Trip Bureau.

In addition, three Japanese social media influencers also visited Brunei where they shared their unique experiences with their respective followers.
