Swatting call to Jennifer Aniston's home under investigation: Los Angeles police

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Emmy Award-winning actress Jennifer Aniston seems to have become the latest victim of an apparent swatting prank.

The Los Angeles Police Department told Nexstar’s KTLA that someone called them around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. That caller, sources told TMZ, claimed to be worried about a friend and requested police to do a wellness check.

The caller gave police the “Friends” actress’ address but did not name her.

When officers arrived at the home, they were greeted by security. Aniston reportedly came out and assured police she was fine. Following their conversation with Aniston, police determined it was a swatting call, which they are now investigating.

Swatting calls refer to the bogus 911 made to businesses or homes — often of public figures — that can prompt a large emergency presence and pose a potentially dangerous situation.

Last year, for example, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said she and her family were the victims of a swatting call on Christmas Day after someone reported a fake crime at her home. Multiple swatting incidents have occurred at her home in recent years, Nexstar’s The Hill reports.

TMZ reports other celebrities, like Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj, have also been victims of swatting calls.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
