Heavy rain affects flight operations, schools are closed in Mumbai

NEW DELHI, SEPT 26 – The heavy rain that lashed Mumbai caused flash floods and affected flight operations last night, while schools were closed today.

Passengers were stranded at several train stations while several roads were flooded after more than 100 millimeters (mm) of rain was recorded in a five-hour period yesterday evening.

“We urge passengers to stay on the train because it is safer. The train will resume its journey when the water recedes,” according to a railway service statement.

Meanwhile, IndiGo and Air India informed that rain affected the flight schedule at Mumbai airport.

The municipal corporation informed that all schools and colleges will remain closed on Thursday following the continuous rain warning from the weather department. – Named
