GREAT BEND, Kan. (KSNW) — Stargazers across the state are invited to an event at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center.

Fort Hays State University’s Astronomy Club, led by College of Education Dean Dr. Paul Adams and Associate Professor Dr. Jack Maseberg, will use high-powered telescopes to help visitors locate and view several deep space objects. The event takes place Friday, Oct. 11, from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Families can see craters on the moon, the rings of Saturn and its moons, stars, and other galaxies, along with many other objects in space. Cookies and hot cocoa will also be served.

The Kansas Wetlands Education Center is located in the Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Refuge, off Kansas Highway 156, northeast of Great Bend.
