WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Vincent Solomon, 46, was charged following a shooting outside Cessna Elementary School on Monday.
Wichita police said on Tuesday that Solomon shot the woman multiple times after an argument. The woman tried to get help by running towards the school, and Solomon ran after her, laid on top of her, and put a gun to her head. A deputy shot at Solomon twice and attempted to disarm him. It took the deputy and two WPD officers to disarm him. Both Solomon and the woman were taken to the hospital.
Solomon was released from the hospital and booked into jail.
He made a court appearance Thursday on a gurney and was charged with attempted murder in the first degree, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and interference with a law enforcement officer.
His bond has been set at $750,000, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 7.
The woman who was shot is still in the hospital. Police said she is expected to survive.
