MENTOR, Ohio — A fourth-down stop on the opening possession led to the first of three touchdown passes by Mentor senior quarterback Scotty Fox.
The Cardinals’ defense held up against a down-hill rushing attack from Michigan, and they turned away River Rouge on Saturday afternoon for a 47-21 win at Jerome T. Osborne Stadium.

Mentor (6-0), which is ranked No. 2 in the cleveland.com Top 25, will be back in Greater Cleveland Conference play Friday next week against Shaker Heights. River Rouge (2-3) will play one of Mentor’s rivals when it hosts Cleveland Heights.
