Tottenham cut off 10 United players

MANCHESTER, SEPT 30 – Tottenham increased the pressure on Erik ten Hag’s position as Manchester United manager with a dominant 3-0 win at Old Trafford yesterday.

Spurs got off to a flying start when Brennan Johnson scored from Micky Van de Ven’s pass after his blistering run through the defense three minutes into the game.

Tottenham should have added to their lead long before captain Bruno Fernandes was sent off in the 42nd minute.

Dejan Kulusevski finally doubled the visitors’ lead two minutes into the second half before Dominic Solanke completed the 3-0 win.

A third defeat in United’s first six league games of the new campaign saw the Red Devils drop to 12th place.

“What I saw in the first 30 minutes was below the level we can expect from a Manchester United team,” added Ten Hag.

“The players get very stressed after conceding so quickly and they make bad decisions. I think we will get better and we need some time,” said Ten Hag.

Tottenham without injured captain Son Heung-min have won four games in 12 days and are arguably at their best.

“Extraordinary,” said Postecoglou. “I think we showed real belief and confidence.

“We were aggressive with and without the ball. Great show all the time,” he added. – AFP
