BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, SEPT 30 – Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) has received an award from The World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) for its achievements in the innovation ranking system this year.
The award was received at the WURI Global Conference 2024 (WGC24) which was held in Seoul, Republic of South Korea recently.
Present to receive the award was the Rector of UNISSA, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal.
Also present at the event were the Director of the Strategic Planning and Development Office, Dr Muhamad Alif bin Haji Sismat and the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, Dr Zulamalibin Begawan Pehin Khatib Haji Matassan.
In the 3rd participation, UNISSA has successfully improved its position by achieving a total of 221 positions in which 13 categories have been evaluated based on three main criteria namely innovation, feasibility and impact.
UNISSA was also ranked 14th in the symbol / promotion category, 26th in the infrastructure / technology category, and 74th in the culture / value category.
The Rector of UNISSA stated that UNISSA’s achievement in WURI this time is a significant recognition and has successfully proved that UNISSA has its own quality and uniqueness on par with leading international universities.
According to him, this achievement is also expected to be an encouragement for all UNISSA citizens to continue to thrive and increase excellence in various fields in the international arena, especially in driving innovation and development of the global community.
The WURI Global Conference this time was organized by aSSIST University together with the WURI Foundation at the university campus from 24 to 26 September and was attended by leaders and experts from 88 higher education institutions from 22 countries.
The conference has witnessed the presentation of various papers and innovation projects where participants can learn and exchange views in order to spark various innovative ideas and initiatives in the future.
