The victims of the fire accident were identified as siblings

KOTA KINABALU, SEPT 30 – The five children and teenage girls who died in a fire in three houses in Jalan Lembaga Padi, Lorong Burung Keleto, Likas today are siblings from two families.

Head of Agustavia Fire and Rescue Station Joe Guasi said the victim was identified as Raisa Adrian, 4, with her two sisters Raidah, 3, and Raina, 1, while another family consisted of Amidah Wahid, 14, and her sister Siti Faridah, 3.

“All the victims’ bodies were found in the same house, which is the house of the three brothers and the victims of the two brothers were their neighbors who lived nearby,” he told reporters today.

He said the pregnant mother of the three siblings survived the incident and was sent to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Likas for further treatment.

Earlier, the Fire and Rescue Department Malaysia (JBPM) Sabah Operations Center in a statement informed that the fire brigade arrived at the scene at 12:54 in the afternoon.

The incident involved three non-permanent type houses that were 100 percent burnt as well as a grocery store, a store and two vehicles, before the fire was brought under control at 1:29 pm.

Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief, ACP Kasim Muda said the police together with the agencies involved are conducting an investigation into the incident and so far it is being investigated under the sudden death case.
