BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio
Threats, Brighton Way: On Sept. 14, a Brighton Way resident came to the police station after receiving threatening emails.
The woman said she received an email from a strange Gmail address that included a ransom note and a two-page report of her doing “embarrassing things in [her] room.”
The person was threatening to send the footage to the woman’s family unless she sent $1,950 in Bitcoin.
The letter — which included a Google Maps of her Brighton Way home — had other threats.
The officer assured the woman it was a scam letter.
Property damage, W. Edgerton Road: On Sept. 7, police were dispatched Briarwood Golf Course regarding a property damage report involving the club house.
An arriving officer talked to the caller, who discovered two glass windows overnight were broken.
The woman said someone broke a front lobby window, as well as another side office window.
A suspicious rock was found under a desk.
While the facility doesn’t have surveillance cameras, it does have an alarm system.
However, that wasn’t triggered for some reason at the time of the incident.
There are no suspects. Police are investigating.
