TOKYO, OCT 2 – Miyazaki Airport on Japan’s Kyushu Island was forced to cancel all flights today following an unexplained small explosion, according to local media reports.
However, no injuries were reported in the incident, which is believed to have occurred about 100 meters from the airport’s terminal building.
The airport official, Takehiro Maeda, informed that part of the taxiway collapsed due to the explosion and all flights were canceled until the evening.
“The police and the fire department are conducting an investigation,” he told AFP without giving further details on the cause of the incident. – AFP
