Trump withdraws from election interview

NEW YORK, OCTOBER 3 – The candidate for president of the United States (US) from the Republican party, Donald Trump canceled a television interview on the channel CBSprogram general 60 Minutes on platform X yesterday, reported the German News Agency (dpa).

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung denied claims the former president had agreed to the interview, writing on X that “there have been preliminary discussions, but nothing has been scheduled or confirmed.”

The program also noted that Democratic nominee Kamala Harris will appear as planned on Monday’s broadcast and that the original invitation for Trump remains open.

Program 60 Minutes states that it has been interviewing presidential candidates for over 50 years.

However, Cheung said CBS has insisted on live fact-checking for this year’s program, which it considers “unprecedented.”

Harris and Trump are competing in the US presidential election on November 5. Following a televised debate hosted by the channel ABC on September 10, Harris called for a second debate, while Trump stated that he did not intend to participate in the next debate. – Named
