Temperatures are heating up again ahead of the next cool front. Today varied from warm in the east to hot out west.
Overnight temps will range from the 40s in extreme Northwest Kansas to the lower 60s farther southeast.
The cool front on Thursday will slowly track southeast.
Those ahead of it will bake in the 90s which is well above average for early October standards.
Winds will also ramp up before relaxing Thursday night with the front shifting away from our area. Â No rainfall is expected with this frontal passage. Â It is just too dry. Â
It will be a gorgeous Friday afternoon that will turn into a comfy evening for area football games. The stretch of sunny afternoons and clear nights continues. The heat builds back on Saturday with stronger winds. Hot and windy for Woofstock this Saturday.
Be sure to bring water for your furry friend to enjoy the fluffiest festival of fall at the Sedgwick County Park. The gusty winds signal another cold front on the approach. It sweeps through by Sunday resetting temps to a much more comfortable level from Sunday into next week.
High pressure will track northeast of Kansas next week. A return southerly flow with a weak disturbance may, just may, spark a sprinkle or a shower next Tuesday. If anything can pop, it will not be much to brag about given how spotty and sparse this chance looks.
Overall, Kansas is going in the wrong direction when it comes to the drought through the middle of the month.
