BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 03 OCT – A group of 18 people consisting of 4 lecturers and 14 students from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore visited Pengiran Muda Mohamed Bolkiah Religious School and Bokok Religious School, Temburong District yesterday.
The delegation led by Dr Sa’eda Buang, Senior Lecturer, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, was also accompanied by senior officials from the Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs (KHEU).
Among the purposes of the group’s visit is to obtain information related to the teaching and learning of Jawi subjects in religious schools as a guide and benchmark for the group in an effort to spread the skills of using Jawi in Singapore.
Aware of the importance of Jawi writing skills as a basis in helping the learning of the Al-Quran and the life of a Muslim in this country, the basic knowledge of Jawi writing has been introduced in the religious school curriculum, with the hope that students will have Jawi skills to facilitate learning the Al-Quran.
The group also had the opportunity to visit Beribi Religious School, Gadong in the morning for the same purpose.
