Cross River gov swears in 27 new permanent secretaries

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu,  has sworn in 27 new permanent secretaries into the state’s civil service commission.

Addressing the newly inaugurated officials at the temporary office in Calabar on Wednesday, October 3, 2024, Otu emphasized the need for heightened efficiency and productivity in the public sector and noted that the position carries significant responsibilities of fostering innovative ideas within the commission.

He said that the appointment aligns with the objective of his people’s first administration centred on the welfare of the people.

“It is truly commendable to witness a greater representation of women in the role of Permanent Secretary today, which speaks volumes.

“As both the financial overseer and administrative leader of your respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), passing the buck will no longer be tolerated.

“It is imperative that you identify and eliminate any detrimental practices hindering progress.

“I extend my congratulations to all the newly appointed permanent secretaries and pray that they are bestowed with wisdom to continue rendering invaluable services to their homeland,” he concluded.

The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Anthony Enoh, in his address, described the appointments as a recognition of hard work and consistent dedication to service, signifying a proven track record of excellence.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the new permanent secretaries, Dr Jonah Offor pledged to exert their utmost efforts within their respective MDAs to propel the state towards progress.’
