BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 3 OCT – In conjunction with the celebration to commemorate the 54th anniversary of the name change of the city of Brunei to Bandar Seri Begawan (BSB), the Surah Yasin Reading and Tahlil Ceremony was held for the late Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Pengiran Anak Damit and Al-Marhumah Duli His Royal Highness Young Pengiran Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim, this afternoon at the Dome of the Royal Tomb.
The ceremony organized by the Bandar Seri Begawan Town Department (JBBSB), under the Ministry of Home Affairs (KHEDN), was attended by the Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman.
Also present at the ceremony were the members of the National Assembly in the districts, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, heads of departments, senior officers and staff of KHEDN and departments under it, as well as mukim heads and village heads from all four districts.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Yasin and tahlil led by the Level 1 Imam, Sungai Besar Mosque, Haji Hanafiah bin Haji Mahmud.
The ceremony was held to commemorate the services of Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien in developing and modernizing Brunei Darussalam.
Celebration Commemorating the Anniversary of the Change of the Name of the City of Brunei to BSB is celebrated on October 4 every year. The city of Brunei began to change its name on October 4, 1970 by changing it to BSB. This year it is celebrated for the 54th time.
