Storm Track 3 Forecast: Patchy overnight frost, then high fire danger Saturday

A line cut across the prairie today — a cool front switched winds around out of the north for our northwest counties.  The rest of us baked into the 90s near and ahead of this feature.

Storm Track 3 Forecast: Patchy overnight frost, then high fire danger Saturday

A few highs will approach near record levels today.  Winds relax once the front shifts away into tonight.  Overnight lows will be the coldest in the northwest in the lower 40s.

Since it will take spots farther southeast to get into this cooler flow, overnight temps will trend milder.  No rain is expected from this frontal passage under a clear sky. In Northwest Kansas, temperatures will fall into the 30s, where some patchy frost will be possible in the morning.

Friday will be a beauty of a day. Widespread comfy highs in the 80s with light winds and a sunshiny sky. The dry atmosphere will allow temps to fall after sundown and should be perfect for Friday Football Fever.

The wind switches out of the south ahead of the next cool front early this weekend.  Winds will become gusty on Saturday.  Temps will also spike into the 90s Saturday afternoon.  Toasty temperatures for Woofstock, but at least there is no threat of a rain delay.

A few cities may gain a new record high temperature before the front tracks through the state. High fire danger is also likely given our dry conditions early this weekend.

Temperatures cool to the upper 70s and lower 80s from Sunday into early next week behind yet another cold front.

A big area of high pressure will track east of us.  There is a subtle piece of weak energy that may spark a sprinkle or a shower Monday night into Tuesday on the backside of this high.

Still not getting our hopes up for much, if any, rain.

Dry the rest of next week with winds from the south, enabling highs to hover in the 80s.
