CLEVELAND, Ohio — Some exit ramps in Cuyahoga County will be closed temporarily overnights during the coming weeks for system testing, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The ramp closures will on Interstate 71 and Interstate 90.
ODOT’s most recent list of impacts that drivers can expect in the coming weeks is below:
I-71 between West 150th Street and West 14th Street exit ramps will have short-duration closures overnight lasting no longer than 45 minutes for system testing beginning Oct. 14 and continuing through early November.
I-90 between West 14th Street and East 140th Street exit ramps will have short-duration closures overnight lasting no longer than 45 minutes for system testing beginning Oct. 14 and continuing through early November.
I-71 under Buhrer Avenue pedestrian bridge has various off-peak lane closures for bridge repairs through October for bridge repairs.
Miller Road over I-77 has various lane restrictions for bridge work through November.
I-77 between Miller Road and Ohio 21 has various lane restrictions and traffic-pattern shifts for interchange improvements through November.
I-90 westbound just east of Columbia Road is in a bi-directional traffic pattern through October for bridge deck replacement. All lanes of traffic are maintained. However, one lane of westbound traffic will be maintained on the I-90 eastbound side separated by a concrete barrier wall. Two lanes of traffic are maintained on the existing westbound side using a lane shift.
I-90 over Tuttle Creek, just east of Columbia Road has various off-peak lane restrictions and lane shifts through November for bridge deck replacement.
I-271 between Emery Road and Fairmount Road has various off-peak lane restrictions and ramp closures through October for resurfacing.
I-480 under I-77 has various off-peak lane restrictions and shoulder closures through October for bridge repairs.
I-480 between West 139th Street and Idlewood Drive has various off-peak lane restrictions for resurfacing through October.
I-480 at Ohio 176 will have nightly lane restrictions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. through mid-October for paving.
I-480 between just east of Brookpark Road and Broadview Road has various lane restrictions through October for barrier wall and drainage improvements.
I-480 westbound over Lee Road is in a bi-directional traffic pattern through late November for bridge deck replacement. All lanes of traffic are maintained. However, two lanes of westbound traffic are maintained on the I-480 eastbound side separated by a concrete barrier wall. Two lanes of traffic are on the existing westbound side.
I-480 eastbound over Lee Road has all lanes of traffic shifted to the right through late November for bridge deck replacement.
I-480 over Lee Road has various lanes restrictions between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night through the fall for bridge deck repairs.
I-480 westbound between Ohio 176 and State Road has various lane restrictions for barrier wall replacement through October.
I-490 east and westbound between I-77 and I-71 is reduced to one lane and has lane shifts for bridge repairs and pavement work through March 2025.
U.S. 422 (Chagrin Boulevard) eastbound at Stratton Road has a right lane closure through November.
Ohio 8 (Northfield Road) over the Metro Parks in Bedford is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction, shifted onto the existing southbound side of the bridge, through November for bridge repairs.
Ohio 10 (Lorain Avenue) over the Rocky River is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction, shifted onto the existing westbound side of the bridge, through November for bridge repairs.
Ohio 17 (Granger Road) between Tuxedo Avenue and Transportation Boulevard is reduced to one lane in each direction and have various short-duration side-street closures through October for resurfacing.
Ohio 43 just east of Ohio 175 over Tinkers Creek has various lane restrictions and traffic pattern shifts through spring 2025 for bridge replacement.
Ohio 237 between Baker Street and Bagley Road is reduced to one lane in each direction through October for resurfacing.
U.S. 422 eastbound at Richmond Road and Warrensville Center Road has a right lane closure through October for bridge repairs.
East 185th Street between Lake Erie and Pawnee Avenue has various lane restrictions through November for pavement work.
Quigley Road between West Third Street and West Seventh Street is reduced to southbound traffic only through October. The detour for northbound traffic is West Seventh Street to I-490 to Ohio 14 (Broadway Avenue) to East Ninth Street.
The following closures will be in place between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. nightly beginning Tuesday through Oct. 13. All ramps will not be closed at the same time.
- East 72nd Street entrance ramp to I-90 west
- MLK Jr. Drive entrance ramp to I-90 west
- I-90 east exit ramp to East 72nd Street
- I-90 east exit ramp to MLK Jr. Drive
Ohio 2 east to I-90 east ramp will be closed at 8 p.m. Sunday through 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 for pavement repairs.
U.S. 422 eastbound over Cannon Road will be reduced to one lane at 9 p.m. today through 6 a.m. Monday.
U.S. 422 between Harper Road and Northfield Road will have various lane restrictions at 9 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Saturday.
I-77 southbound over I-480 will be reduced to one lane at 7 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Monday.
Rockside Road to I-480 ramp will be closed at 7 p.m. today through 5 a.m. Monday. The detour is Grant Street to I-77 to I-480.
Ohio 44 at Butternut Road has various lane restrictions maintained by a temporary traffic signal through late October for a culvert replacement.
Ohio 86 just west of Rock Creek Road is reduced to one lane maintained by a temporary traffic signal through October for culvert replacement.
Ohio 87 just east of Hillbrook Lane is reduced to one lane maintained by a temporary traffic signal through July 2025 for culvert replacement.
Ohio 700 just south of Tavern Road is reduced to one lane maintained by a temporary traffic signal through November for culvert replacement.
Ohio 168 between Patch Road and Shed Road has various lane restrictions maintained by flaggers through October.
U.S. 422 between the Chagrin River and the LaDue Reservoir has various off-peak lane restrictions for bridge painting through October.
I-90 and Ohio 528 entrance and exit ramps have various lane restrictions and traffic-pattern shifts through mid-October for safety improvements.
I-90 between Ohio 174 and Riverside Drive has various lane restrictions and traffic-pattern shifts through October for slope repairs.
Ohio 84 over Ohio 44 has various lane restrictions and short-duration closures through late October for bridge painting.
U.S. 20 over Ohio 44 has various lane restrictions and short-duration closures through late October for bridge painting.
I-90 under Ohio 44 has various lane restrictions and traffic-pattern shifts through October for bridge painting.
Ohio 91 (SOM Center Road) between U.S. 20 and Ohio 2 has various lane restrictions and traffic shifts through July 2025 for bridge repairs. The truck detour is Ohio 2 to Ohio 640/Vine Street to Ohio 2 to Ohio 91.
Ohio 306 between Markell Road and Eisenhower Drive is reduced to southbound traffic only through late October. The detour for northbound traffic is Ohio 615 to I-90 to Ohio 306.
Ohio 640 (Vine Street) between Willowick Drive and Ohio 283 (Lakeshore Boulevard) is reduced to one lane in each direction through November for resurfacing.
U.S. 6 between Rockefeller Road and Ohio 91 will have various daily lane restrictions maintained by flaggers through October for resurfacing.
U.S. 6 between Ohio 84 (Bishop Road) and Ohio 91 (SOM Center Road) has various lane restriction for resurfacing through October.
U.S. 20 between Townline Road and Ohio 528 has various lane restrictions and traffic-pattern shifts through November for pavement replacement.
Liberty Street between Ohio 84 and Washington Street has various lane restrictions maintained by flaggers through October.
Mantel Road over Ohio 2 is closed through November for bridge replacement. The detour is U.S. 20 to Ohio 535.
Ohio 2 under Mantel Road has various lane restrictions and short-duration closures through November.
Ohio 615 between Andrews Road and Center Street has various nightly lane restrictions between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. through October.
Shawnee Trail at Ohio 43 will be closed Monday through mid-October for roadway widening. The detour will be Ohio 43 to Cherokee Trail.
Ohio 43 over I-76 will have various daily lane restrictions for spot paving today and Monday.
Ohio 21 northbound under I-77 has occasional nightly closures through mid-October. The detour will be I-77 southbound to Ridgewood Road to I-77 northbound. I-77 southbound between Arlington Road and I-277/US 224 has various nightly lane restrictions between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for striping through mid-October.
I-77/Ohio 8 southbound between Johnston Street and Carroll Street is in a new traffic pattern. Southbound motorists are split into two separate lanes. The left lane is crossed over onto the northbound direction while the right lane remains on the southbound side. Motorists wishing to exit at I-76 eastbound and westbound need to remain in the right lane.
The following interchanges will have various lane restrictions for lighting installation: Ohio5/82 at U.S. 422; Ohio 5/82 at Perkins Jones Road; Ohio 5/82 at Elm Road. Estimated completion is late August 2025.
