Operation Bersih recorded various errors

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 4 OCT – Clean Operation carried out together with enforcement agencies from the National Immigration and Registration Department (JIPK) and the Royal Customs and Excise Department (JKED) which is managed by the Brunei and Muara District Department (JDBM) through the Licensing Division and Enforcement has found some wrongdoing.

The first offense, acting on public complaints, a rental house housing foreign workers located in Kampung Katimahar was found to be in a dirty condition that could threaten the cleanliness of the environment and nearby areas.

The next operation also issued two compounds under the Criminal Offenses Act Chapter 12 (1) to two companies namely Syarikat Mansae Abadi and Syarikat DSA Contractor, each amounting to $2,000 under Chapter 12 (1)(f) and (b) and three individuals with a compound of $500 each for the same offence.

The operation aims to make the public aware of how important it is to maintain the cleanliness of the environment, thus channeling the information that there is an act that controls cleanliness in this country, namely the Rampaian Offenses Act (Amendment 2021) Chapter 12 (1).

JKED also issued confiscation notices to three Indonesian men for possessing cigarettes and vape which is an offense under Chapter 146 of the Excise Order 2006. Meanwhile, the JIPK also arrested a foreigner for being believed to have overstayed in the country after his immigration pass was cancelled.

In addition, the effort also supports one of the aspirations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is to maintain the safety and well-being of the people and residents in this country.

In relation to that, it is reminded to the owners or managers of companies and individuals not to take lightly the offenses that have been charged and ordered to pay the compound fine immediately and to clean the area that has been turned into an illegal dumping ground.

If you fail to do so, the case will be brought to court under the Rampaian Offenses Act (Amendment 2021) Chapter 12 (1), if convicted can lead to a fine not exceeding $9,000 for individuals, while for companies not exceeding $30,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 12 months or both.

The department would also like to request the cooperation of the public to channel any information about illegal dumping by including the address of the location along with photos via the WhatsApp application to 8321581.
