RIYADH, 7 OCT – The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi renewed his call to the international community to assume responsibility and take immediate action to stop Israel’s serious aggression against the Gaza Strip, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
He emphasized that the humanitarian, security and economic situation in the region is deteriorating after a year of Israeli military operations in Gaza.
“This requires immediate and decisive action from the international community to stop Israel’s brutal crimes against the Palestinian people, ease military operations and end the blockade, while ensuring that humanitarian aid can be channeled and the opening of pathways to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people,” he said.
The Secretary General also emphasized the importance of protecting the public, including those involved in relief and humanitarian services.
In addition, he reiterated that the GCC countries consistently support the accountability of those responsible for crimes against humanity, while demanding that Israel be convicted for the violations committed against the defenseless Palestinian people.
Albudaiwi also voiced the firm stance of the GCC member states in supporting the Palestinian struggle as well as their commitment to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and related United Nations resolutions.
He concluded his statement by calling for the unification of regional and international efforts to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and provide the necessary support to the Palestinian people, thereby contributing to stability and security in the region. – Named
