BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 7 OCT – The Minister of Education, the Honorable Datin Seri Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh attended the Opening Ceremony of the Sarawak Preschool International Convention 2024 held at The Waterfront Hotel, Kuching, Sarawak on 5 October.
According to a statement issued, the event, which was officiated by the Minister of Women, Children and Community Welfare, Sarawak, the Honorable Dato Sri Hajah Fatimah Abdullah, brought together representatives from Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, the Republic of Indonesia, and the Republic of Singapore.
A themed convention Inclusivity and Diversity in Early Childhood Education that focuses on three main objectives which are to improve the knowledge and skills of educators to address the challenges in early childhood care and education; providing a platform for educators, guardians and parents to interact and collaborate and create opportunities to share experiences and best practices in fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement in the field.
A total of 305 participants attended in person, while another 620 participants participated online. Five Brunei Darussalam teachers from various schools who teach at the preschool level participated in the convention face to face.
The Honorable Minister of Education and his entourage also had the opportunity to visit the Early On-Site Intervention Center (OSEIC) where it provides early intervention for the development, health and support needs of children and children diagnosed with Autism, Down Syndrome or other learning problems, before joining preschool.
During the visit, the center shared about the Early Intervention Program (Early Intervention ProgramEIP), which includes educational and therapeutic support services to help equip children with key foundational skills and development in an effort to reach their potential.
Also accompanying the Honorable Minister of Education to the event was the Permanent Secretary (Core Education), His Excellency Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin and officials from the Ministry of Education.
