Don’t be fooled by fraudulent tactics Gem Media Online

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, OCT 7 – BIBD would like to warn the public about the recent increase in robocall scams targeting individuals in the country.

According to a statement issued by BIBD, these scams usually involve automated voice calls claiming that the recipient’s phone number is experiencing problems and will be terminated within an hour. The message then instructs the recipient to press ‘1’ for assistance.

BIBD urges the public to be cautious when receiving such calls and not to heed the instructions given by such automated messages.

BIBD also advises that if you receive a suspicious call, make sure not to dial any number or follow any instructions and immediately end the call.

Also, never disclose personal information such as bank account information, PIN, password, or other sensitive information over the phone. You should also be wary of similar tactics via text message or email, and when in doubt, always verify the source directly.

These scams are a trend of scams that exploit technology to target unwitting victims. As part of BIBD’s ongoing efforts to protect its customers, BIBD is committed to raising awareness of various online scams, such as automated voice call scams, through various channels to ensure the public is always aware of the latest scam tactics.
