Gasoline prices fall sharply across Northeast Ohio

Gasoline prices fall sharply across Northeast Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio AAA reports that the average price for a gallon of gasoline across Northeast Ohio tumbled by 13 cents in the last week.

The average fell to $3.083, in comparison to $3.215 a week ago and $3.292 during the same week a year ago, the AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report said Monday.

Regionally, the price for unleaded regular ranged from $2.947 in Lorain and $2.955 in Youngstown to $3.184 in Chester Township and $3.201 in Aurora.

The Cleveland average was listed at $3.067.

Nationally, the average price is down 11 cents a gallon.

While Hurricane Helene’s devastation did little to impact gasoline supply, it crushed demand in affected areas by destroying infrastructure and causing power outages,” AAA said.

“Also, the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel are fueling worries that oil shipments could be disrupted through the Straits of Hormuz, a vital chokepoint for maritime traffic. This has led to oil prices creeping higher.”
