Temperatures will gradually warm up this week. Today is one of the coolest days until late in the weekend.
Overnight, a weak disturbance will latch on to some moisture and squeeze out a few sprinkles by Tuesday morning for our south-central counties. Anything that forms will be light and sparse. Rainfall potential is just a hundredth or two.
Lows will range from the 40s to the 50s farther southeast.
The heat will fester the remainder of the workweek with highs in the 80s to the lower 90s.
A few sprinkles cannot be ruled out in western Kansas on Wednesday. Another quick-moving and moisture-starved piece of energy will try to produce a few rain showers over central and eastern Kansas Wednesday night and exit by Thursday morning.
Friday and Saturday look to be our hottest days. Temps also look toasty farther southeast on Saturday before a notable cool front sweeps through by Sunday. Sunday will feel much more like fall.
The heat tries to rally back early next week and is stopped by an even stronger cool front.
This frontal passage looks to have a chance of rain by next Wednesday. Our pattern will change and become much more like fall the last week to week and a half of October.
Hurricane Milton rapidly intensified to a Category 5 storm. Winds are pushing 180 MPH as of 4 PM Monday. Landfall will be late Wednesday. The track will take it towards Tampa.
