About the matchup
The Guardians will send out right-handed pitcher Alex Cobb while the Tigers have not announced their pitcher yet. Detroit is coming off a 3-0 victory courtesy of a ninth-inning three-run home run from Kerry Carpenter off the best closer in the game Emmanuel Clase. Clase had allowed five runs all season and only two home runs before surrendering the mighty blast.
AL Cy Young frontrunner Tarik Skubal was brilliant per usual, tallying eight strikeouts while allowing three hits. In an ironic twist of fate, the Guardians survived Skubal, but it was their bullpen that cost them the game.
