Bandar Seri Begawan, 8 OCT – Around 500kg of rubbish was successfully collected during the beach cleaning activity at Jerudong Beach, organized by Standard Chartered Bank Brunei (SCBRC) Recreation Club and Beach Bunch Brunei on 29 September.
The event was part of the Standard Chartered Bank (StanChart) staff volunteer initiative, involving the participation of 20 individuals, including bank staff as well as family and friends in an effort to beautify Brunei’s natural landscape and ensure the beaches remain clean. Among other things, the purpose of the beach cleanup is to foster environmental awareness and community involvement among staff, in line with StanChart’s values of sustainability and social responsibility and to have a positive impact on the environment. The initiative contributes to the preservation of Brunei’s beaches, emphasizing the importance of keeping the beaches clean and preserving the environment. SCBRC Chairman, Dayangku Sri Zarith Zarina, said, “It is a great opportunity to come together as a community to protect and care for the natural environment.
“Working with Beach Bunch Brunei allows us to make a meaningful contribution to the preservation of our beaches. I am proud of our team and those who participated where every little effort is important in protecting our environment,” he said.
The beach cleanup at Pantai Jerudong is one of the many volunteer activities organized by StanChart as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and community involvement. Through such events, StanChart aims to create a lasting positive impact and foster a culture of caring and responsibility.
