BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 9 OCT- Residents of Kampung Junjongan and its surroundings will soon have a new mosque in the near future.
In connection with that, the Ministry of Religious Affairs (KHEU) through the Department of Mosque Affairs (JHEM) held a Ceremony to Join the Building of the New Kampung Junjongan Mosque which took place this morning.
Also present at the ceremony was the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan.
The event started with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by the Imam of Kampung Junjongan Mosque, Awang Mohd. Azri bin Abdullah @ Abd. Rahman
The new mosque building was built on a plot of land with an area of ​​approximately 3 acres using expenditure allocations from Brunei Darussalam’s National Mosque Construction Fund amounting to $5.2 million.
The construction of the new mosque was started by erecting its pillars on 18 June 2022 with a capacity to accommodate approximately 1,600 worshipers and equipped with various facilities including toilets, ablutions, multi-purpose rooms, mortuary management rooms and parking spaces.
The purpose of joining the building is to ensure the cleanliness and purity of the new mosque building before the carpet installation is carried out.
Also present at the ceremony were Members of the National Assembly, Yang Berhormat Awang Zainol bin Haji Mohamed; KHEU Permanent Secretary, Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim; KHEU Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance), Awang Misle bin Haji Abd Karim; KHEU Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religion), Haji Shamshol bin Haji Omar; Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Legal), Ministry of Development, Dayang Aldila binti Hj Mohamad Salleh Deputy and Acting Director General of Public Works Department, Ministry of Development, Haji Shaharuddin Khairul bin Haji Anuar.
