Wednesday warmth continues the rest of the week

We have another warm day ahead. High temperatures are typically around the middle 70s this time of year so we will be about 10 degrees above average.

Wednesday warmth continues the rest of the week

High pressure remains locked in place. This will keep our skies sunny and mainly dry.

You may have been noticing some hazy skies. The western half of the country has some ongoing wildfires and they have also been just as dry as the Sunflower State lately.

As smoke makes its way into the upper levels of the atmosphere, it will continue to be driven in our direction. It will be most noticeable to the northwest. Our air quality has not quite reached unhealthy levels but this is still something those with respiratory issues need to keep in mind.

Chances for moisture remain at the minimum but there could still be a few raindrops around at times. The next chance for a sprinkle or shower will be to the west this evening. This chance then tracks into South Central Kansas where there could be a thunderstorm early Thursday. Severe weather is not expected.

The rest of the work and school week will be dry. A front starts to move in from the north Friday and will open the door to cooler air by the end of the weekend.

Impacts from Hurricane Milton are still not expected in the Sunflower State but thoughts are with Florida that will take a direct hit from the life-threatening storm later tonight.

Milton is expected to make landfall as a major hurricane between Tampa and Port Charlotte. Even after it moves out into the Atlantic Ocean, Florida will likely be cleaning up for weeks to come.

As Milton moves out, our weekend front will give us some weather whiplash as we go from highs in the 80s and 90s down to the 60s.
