SHIGA, OCT 10 – A small Japanese clothing store has gone viral after its sign displaying a picture of a cute baby girl turned creepy due to the scorching heat and sunlight over the past few years.
According to reports Oddity Central, a clothing and miscellaneous goods store called Hangai in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture Japan has had the same sign for 10 years.
The picture of a cute child on the sign with the message “We sell a lot of good and cheap stuff” changed its face last year.
Since the very hot summer, the picture has turned into a scary one, with the child’s eyes and mouth turning pitch black as a result of scorching in the scorching heat and direct sunlight.
Things got worse this year, after another scorching summer. The once cute little boy was even scarier with his whole face now dark black as if he had just been burned.
Last summer, Masanao Itaya, the owner of Hangai told a Japanese news agency FNN that he noticed the damage to the sign in August and intended to replace it for fear it would scare off customers.
After an ancestral spirit festival, the Obon Festival passed and he finally wanted to change it. However, he was surprised when many visitors from all over the country came to his shop to see and take pictures of the “possessed child” sign. So he decided that changing it would be bad for business.
Last month after another record-breaking summer, the sign once again made headlines in Japan. This time the dark areas around its eyes and mouth became larger and dark spots began to appear on its cheeks and nose, making it even more frightening. .
